8/29 Post Falls Invite--CDA girls start 2013 right where they left off in 2012 dominating Idaho scoring a perfect 15. E.
Callahan led the way with a 20:38. Lake City Boys score 25 to CDA's 32 to win the invite. The boy winner was Jerry Cook of
Moscow in 17:09. He must be new to Idaho as I don't have him on any preseason info. Cook beat two tough Lake City boys
in J. Finney (17:28) and K. Little (17:50).
8/29 Troy Invite--Logos Boys score 15 without Paul Ryan, as S. Pratt wins 4250M course in 15:43. Highland-C wins girls
race with 17 points over Troy. Makayla Kaufman (Highland-C) wins girls race in 19:58.
8/30 Skyview Invite-- Columbia Boys wins team race and Erik Barfuss of Columbia wins in 16:57 over D. Hughes of Nampa.
Meridian girls go 2-3-4-6-11 to win team race, and Jocelyn Barber of Skyview wins individual battle over M. Refaey (Mer).
8/29 Saucony XC Scramble--What started as a small idea turned into a huge Kick-Off meet. 45 High school and Middle
school teams converged on Shelley for an early season test. Defending 2A & 3A State Girls Champs Soda Springs &
Sugar-Salem battled with each putting their Top 5 in the top 30. Soda was to tough up front and took the title 54 to 71. Olivia
Redd (Sugar) started the year where she left of winning the individual race 19:51, over K. Yamauchi (Soda). Hillcrest boys
sent an early message to the area that they are back, winning over Idaho Falls 80 to 84. Star Valley runner Cody Peck won the
team battle by running smart early in the heat and finished strong to beat A. Stewart (Shelley) in 17:26 to 17:29.

8/30 Camels Back Classic--Borah Sweeps everything at Camels Back Classic. Boys win 29 to 55 over Caldwell, with
Jimmy Lee (Bor) leading the way in 17:25. Not far behind him was teammate S. Powell in 17:38. The Borah girls score just
23 with Emmett second at 49 points. Highly ranked Sara Christianson (Bor) leads a trio of Borah girls with a time of 20:06.
8/30 Jimmy Driscoll Invite-- Big battle in 5A first week as the two top ranked Boys team square off with Capital getting the
best of Rocky Mountain 59 to 67. Capital's Jacob Davis won the race with a 10 second win over N. Hamilton (Vall) and S.
Sullivan (Cent) in 16:30. In the girls race Mountain View is back and in a big way. The Maverick scored 31 points beating
two highly ranked teams in Vallivue (61) and Rocky Mountain (67). The Mavericks were led by track standout Sam
McKinnon who not only beat 2nd ranked M. Malaspina (Vallivue) by close to a minute, but smashed the course record running
18:40. 3-4-5 were new freshman from MV, Cent. & RM, Reagan Badger, Katie Weedn, and Sara Mussleman.
9/7 Cardinal Classic-- Bingham High out of Utah came north and sweep both team races at the Classic. They had their work
cut out for them in both races as the Soda Springs girls on their home course kept it real close 64-79. Likewise the Pocatello
Boys were close 44-72, and Mountain View boys looked very strong again finishing 3rd with 99. Individually E. Armstrong
(Poc) continues to win running a very fast 15:53 on silica surface. He edged out Bigham's A. Brewer 16:17, and C. Peck (SV)
16:46. On the girls side Bingham girls go 1-2 M. Mitchell, & W. Rich, K. Yamauchi (Soda) was the top Idaho girls finishing
just ahead of A. Dyer (IF) mimicking last weeks Saucony finish.
9/7 Silverwood Coaster Cross-- Boise schools travel north and win. Capital boys beat University (WA) and Borah girls beat
Capital girls and Lakeside (WA). Likewise in the boys race Zach Wiberg (Cap) beats T. Smith (Univ) 15:54.6 to 15:56.9, and
in the girls Sara Christensen (Borah) beats A. Allaet (JF) 18:48.4 to 19:07.1
9/6 Caldwell Twilight-- Rocky Mountain sweeps team battles. The boys beat Vallivue, Boise & Bishop Kelly
58-73-97-97. The girls squeak by Vallivue & Boise 45-48-54. In the best race of the day Makayla Malaspina (Vall) beat
defending state champ E. Hamlin (Boise) 18:57 to 19:00. Boys defending state champ Dwain Stucker (Mer) won easliy over
N. Hamilton (Vall). 16:14.8 to 16:31.3.
9/7 USU Aggie Cross Country Invite-- Sugar-Salem Girls finish 2nd to Herriman, Ut without O. Redd, as S. Hill and I.
Price go 3-4 respectfully. Sugar-Salem boys finish fourth among the Utah schools, with C. Stoddard leading the way in 8th.
9/6 Community School & Wood River Invite-- Salmon Sweeps the small school races along with individual races. Billy
Godfrey and Morgan Smith win in 18:40 & 22:49. Jerome, Twin Falls, Wood River, & Canyon Ridge all beat #1 ranked
pre-season Middleton in the girls team race, But Middleton Boys surprise and win over Twin Falls and Jerome. M. Schenk &
C. Biendenbach of Twin go 1-2 in 17:57 and 18:06. Hayley Montgomery (WR) beats S. Heindel (Midd) in 22:27 to 23:13.
9/5 Valley Invite-- Kimberly 42 over Filer 67 in Boys Team battle. 3A pre-season favorite Gage Moore (Filer) wins race
over Goodings E. Garcia 17:53 to 18:14. Valley wins girls race over Kimberly and Rachel Youren (Gooding) destroys field
running 20:49 to S. Onozco (Valley) 23:06.
9/5 West Jefferson Invite-- In the Boys race it was all Red up front as Hillcrest put 5 in the top 10 and Madison put 4 in the
top 10. Jon Stutz (Mad) won the individual race in 18:15 over W. Eddy (Hill) 18:21. Hillcrest girls also win team battle, but
Megan Gehmlich (Mad) wins girls title in 22:21.
9/13 Tiger/Grizz-- Regionally ranked Bozeman, Mt came to down and dominated, sweeping both Division A races. Soda
Springs likewise sweep both races in the Division B race. The story of the meet had to be unranked Idaho Falls Girls finishing
second to Bozeman beating some of the States best. Rocky Mtn., Vallivue and Timberline all ran well finishing 3-4-5
respectfully. Sam McKinnon (MV) crushed the girls field running a fast 18:49.1 beat Defending State champ E. Hamlin who
was 5th. Elijah Armstrong continued winning in Idaho with the fastest time of the day 15:47.8, 5A track star A. Rafla (Timb)
was second in 16:09, and defending State champ D. Stucker (Mer) was 3rd. Olivia Redd (Sugar) wins the D2 girls race, and
Austin Stewart (Shelley) wins boys D2.
9/14 Coeur d'Alene Invite-- CDA sweep the DI race, with the girls score a low 26 points, and the boys 36. Sandpoint boys
lead by invite chamo S. Levora (16:18) were second just 2 points back. The biggest news here is the standout freshman girl
from Moscow as she blitzed the CDA girls in a fast 19:27, 40 seconds faster than the Story girls from CDA. In the D2 race
Leif Fredericks wins leading the CDA Charter boys over Timberlake by 7 and Riverside, Or beats Timberlake by 27.
9/14 Roger Curran Invite-- Eagle girls win going 2-3-4, and J. Barber (Skyview) won in 20:17.7. Nampa boys score 32
beating Eagle with 52. A. Lunstrum and D. Hughes (Nampa) go 1-2 leading the Bulldogs.
9/12 Weiser Invite-- Weiser girls score 15, but A. Wheeler (VC) wins in 23:48. Victory Charter Boys beat Weiser 31 to 49.
Gabe Fisher (VC) wins in 18:00.
9/21 Bob Firman Invite-- The largest meet in the State drew 116 High School and Middle
Schools from all over the West. Idaho highlights include E. Armstrong (Pocatello) runs fastest
Idaho boys time finishing 3rd in 15:19, A. Rafla (Timb) is 2nd fastest in 8th place running 15:34.
The fastest Idaho girl was E. Hamlin (Boise) finishing 12th running 18:41, and M. Malaspina (Vall)
finishes 15th in 18:43. Best Idaho boys team was Pocatello who finished 12th in the elite, then
Capital in 15. The top girls team was Boise in 8th place and Rocky Mountain in 11th. In the Div 2
races A. Stewart (Shelley) wins in 16:21 and R. Youren (Gooding) finishes 2nd in 19:37. Best
team finish was Snake River Boys and Preston Girls who both finish 2nd. Out of State Teams
continued to dominate with number and awards.
9/19 Century Co-Ed Challenge-- Idaho Falls sweeps both team races and individual races, as T. Weatherby runs 19:14, and
N. Vance runs 16:38. The IF girls score an amazing low 17 points going 1-2-3-5-6-7.
9/19 Magic Mountain-- Shelley High sweep both boys and girls races in the Magic Valley. A. Stewart (Shelley) crushes
field, and feshman P. Drollinger (Shelley) wins girls race.
9/20 Rigby Invite-- Sugar-Salem win all 6 races, HS, JV, & MS. The girls led by O. Redd in 19:20 scores 26 points to
Salmon's 79. The boys led by C. Stoddard in 17:44 score 37 to Rigby's 53.
9/20 Crossroads Point XC Challenge-- Jerome boys win over Kuna 36-55 as Kuna's C. Day wins the boys race in 17:36.
Wood River wins girls race over Twin Falls being led by H. Montgomery in 21:54.
9/27 Blackfoot Bronco Stampede-- Skyline Boys run incredible putting their top 5 in the top 14. Driztin Herndon (Poc) wins
the individual title over J. Van Orden (SR) in 16:31. Jackson, Wy wins girls race over Sugar-Salem by 4 points. A. Gibson
(Jackson) also wins over O. Redd (Sugar) in 18:29.
9/27 Mountain Home Invite-- Twin Falls Boys getting better and beat Kuna 40 to 62 to win. Jeremy Stark (TF) led the way
over C. Nielsen (Kuna) in 16:31. Bishop Kelly wins the girls race over Skyview in a big 4A battle 45-69. J. Barber (Skyview)
wins race in 20:06. M. Haener (BK) was second in 20:23.
9/27 Pirate Challange-- West Side sweeps boys and girls races. C. Baird (WS) wins in 19:45, and R. Bullcreek (Malad)
wins girls race in 23:53.
9/25 Ririe Invite-- Firth sweeps both races with Bonneville second. J.D. Wells (Bonn) wins boys race in 18:22 over M.
McKinnon (Firth). M. Gardner (Firth) beats M. Haroldsen (Bonn) 21:15 to 21:28.
9/26 Ivan Benson Invite-- Bonners Ferry sweeps both races. Luke Reoch (BF) wins boys race in 16:47, and E. Young
(PR) in 23:02.
9/25 Bear Lake Invite-- Soda Springs continues to dominate winning both races. K. Yamauchi (Soda) wins girls race in
Biggest Movers: Mountain View Boys go to #1 in 5A after great Pre-Nats., and Idaho Falls girls go to #2 in
5A. After Firman Sandpoint girls go #1 in 4A, and Twin Falls boys go to #2. Shelley Boys make big move in

10/5 Mile High Classic-- Skyline Boys win and Sugar-Salem Girls win on a beautiful day in Challis. Biggest news Shelley
boys surprise beating Snake River and Sugar-Salem. Course records crushed by Olivia Redd Sugar-Salem 18:33 and Austin
Stewart Shelley 16:10.
10/4 Clash in the Valley XC Invite-- Mountain View dominates both races against the 5 team field. MV boys score 20 and
girls 22. Dwain Stucker (Meridian) wins boys race in 16:09 and Sam McKinnon (MV) stays undefeated in Idaho winning in
18:48. Meridian was second in both races.
10/4 Bob Weisle Invitational-- Results in Grade Format. Fastest boy of the day is Lake City Junior Kyler Little in a time of
18:04. Finishing second was teammate J. Finney in 18:24, and 3rd was Lewiston Freshman A. Byrer in 18:44. Fastest girl of
the day was Lewiston Senior Shevaun Ames in 21:41. Second was Moscow Freshman K. Ruck 21:52, and 3rd was Moscow
Junior M. Woodward in 22:29.
10/3 Gary Ward Invitational-- Vallivue dominates meet winning both team race and individual races. Vallivue boys score 35
to Middleton's 60 & Nampa's 65. Vallivue girls score 20 to Emmett's 56 & Middleton's 75. Vallivue's Nick Hamilton wins
boys race in 16:22 and Mikayla Malaspina girls race in 18:43.
10/2 WIC Conference Meet-- Melba girls look very good winning WIC with 26 points over McCall-Donnelly. Nampa
Christian boys squeak out a win over Cole Valley 44 to 46. Melba's Sierra Manzer wins girls race by over 30 seconds, with
K. DeLeon (NC) second. Peyton Brothers of Nampa Christian beats R. Manzer of Melba 17:25 to 17:43.
10/2 Dani Bates Invitational-- Huge meet in Twin Falls. Idaho Falls girls continue to impress beating Soda Springs 65-78.
Gooding's Rachel Youren wins girls race in 19:07, with A. Dyer (IF) second in 19:25. Pocatello boys dominate with 48 points
to runner-up Highland's 107. E. Armstrong Pocatello wins in 15:35 and S. Sullivan Centennial 16:07
10/11 Athlete's Foothill Challenge-- With most teams running paired down squads, Centennial Boys and Eagle girls win.
Ryan McKinnon (MV) wins in 17:59 over A. Young (Cent) 18:07. In the girls race Ashtyn Ellis (Eagle) beats teammate K.
10/10 SRV Invite (Melba)-- Parma sweeps both races, Boys score 36 and Girls score a score 19. Cole Hungate now at
Homedale wins boys race over A. Eells Parma 17:58-18:12. Harlie Sorrell (Parma) dominates by 2 minutes in 20:33 over
teammate M. Beck.
10/10 Melba Invite-- Nysaa, Or boys win but then Victory Charter beats Liberty Charter 93-102. Gabe Fisher (VC) is top
Idaho finisher in 2nd running 17:21 and senior newcomer Taylor Spence was 3rd 17:28. Melba girls look good scoring 30 led
by Sierra Manzer running 20:15, C. Hamblin (LC) second in 20:26.
10/9 Filer Invite-- Kimberly Boys looking good as they score 37 and beat rival Filer 63. Gae Moore (Filer) wins individual
battle 16:39 over Gooding's E. Garcia 17:22. Oakley and Valley battle with Oakley beating Valley by a point 72-73. Rachel
Youren (Gooding) destroys field by almost 2 mins. running 19:14 and A. Bitzenburg (Filer) was second 21:09.
10/9 Butte Invite-- Rigby sweeps team titles with Firth teams second. Rigby boys score 17 points and are led by individual
champ Cameron Hansen in 20:13 over teammate P. Perry 20:18 on a tough course. Tori Pinnock leads the Rigby girls with a
23:03 and M. Garnder (Firth) is second in 25:13.
10/9 Canyon Ridge Challenge-- Twin Falls boys flex their strength scoring 21 to second place Canyon Ridge's 59. Twin
goes 1-2-3 led by Jeremy Stark in 16:44. Wood River girls look equally impressive scoring 21 and doing the same, going
1-2-3 led by Haley Montgomery in 20:48.
10/11 Madison Invite-- Idaho Falls Girls beat Sugar-Salem Girls 52-72. Olivia Redd (Sugar) cruises to victory in 18:40 with
M. Gehmlich (Madison) 19:28. Pocatello scores a low 28 to Idaho Falls scoring 77. E. Armstrong (Poc) cruises to a 15:44

fast 18:22 and Hannah Putman (Tim) second 19:17.
10/17 Bugtown 4A/5A Canyon County Championships-- Both Vallivue teams wins the battle of Bugtown. Nampa boys
and Caldwell girls are second. Vallivue boys score 40 and girls score a low 19. Likewise Vallivue's Nick Hamilton and
Mikayla Malaspina win the individual titles in 16:18 and 19:29 respectfully.
10/16 Salmon Invite-- Salmon sweeps their own invite, as Boys score 27 and Girls just 20. Billy Godfrey (Sal) wins over
teammate A. Feldhausen in 18:29 to 18:41. Salmon Freshman Morgan Smith & Emily Stenlund finish 1-2 in 22:38 & 23:37

10/16 IF City/County Meet-- Idaho Falls girls continue to run well and beat Hillcrest 26-36. Hillcrest Boys surprise both
Idaho Falls and Skyline 37-41-45 respectfully. Ashlyn Dyer (IF) wins over teammate T. Weatherby 19:20 to 19:34. Will
Eddy (Hill) beats T. Sperry (Sky) 16:29 to 16:36.
10/17 Gib Floyd Invite-- Rocky Mountain really flexes their muscle as a few top runner from other squads sit. They still look
like they are rounding into one of the best in 5A. Boys score 17 and girls 18. Centennial's Scott Sullivan wins in 15:49, but
then RM go 2-3-4-5-8. RM girls go 1-2-3-5-7 with Paige Dilmore winning in 18:53.
10/17 Firth High Invite-- Sugar-Salem Girls and Shelley Boys win, with Shelley girls and Rigby boys finish second. Austin
Stewart (Shelley) and Olivia Redd (Sugar) again prove why they are ranked #1 in 3A. Both blitz the field in fast times 15:48 &
10/17 Potlatch Invite-- Potlatch boys win their own invite over Grangeville 38-48. Highland-C girls beat Kootenai 34-36.

2A/1A Hightlights SODA GIRLS SCORE A PERFECT 15!!!!!! This has only happened once before in the History of Idaho
Cross Country. Jerome boys did it in 1974 as part of their 10 year streak. Soda girls also continued their streak, now 8 in a
row. Not to be outdone the Soda boys also dominated the field 35 points. Melba girls and CDA Charter boys were second.
Kelsey Yamauchi led the Soda sweep running 19:37, and Leif Fredericks CDA-Charter wins boys race in 17:00.
3A Hightlights Sugar-Salem Girls win their second State title led by two-time champ Olivia Redd (19:22) scoring 40 to
runner-up Shelley 59. Sophomore Austin Stewart led his Shelley team to their first ever Cross Country State Title. His winning
time of 16:35 was 30 seconds faster than runner-up Luke Brogan (Bear Lake).
4A Hightlights The girls team battle turned out to be just as thought with a battle among the top teams with no dominate team.
No team scored under 100 points as Sandpoint beat Preston by 1 point, 101-102. Caitlin Elgan of Preston took over the lead
as Rachel Cannon (Blackfoot) fell down and won in 19:29. Pocatello Boys and Elijah Armstrong win their 3rd straight titles in a
dominate way scoring 29 to runner-up Bishop Kelly 106. Elijah runs the fastest time of the day cruising to a 15:41, with Sam
Levora second 16:20.
5A Highlights Senior Sam McKinnon Mountain View runs the fastest girls time of the day with a dominate 18:26. Runner-up
Mikayla Malaspina of Vallivue runs 19:05 she has now been 2nd, 3rd, 2nd in her 3 year career. The 2012 NXN Regional
Champs Couer D'Alene wins in a scare with 60 points. They had 4 in the top 8, but J. Brown has an off day and finished 47th as
their 5th runner. This made it appear the door was left open for an upset, but no other team could match the upfront strength of
CDA. Boise was closest scoring 90. On the boys side a small upset put Capital Boys ahead of pre-meet favorite Moutain View
57-64. Andrew Rafla of Timberline was the only other boy to go under 16:00 running 15:54 to defeat defending champ Dwain
Stucker (Meridian) 16:18.
